Possibly the most recognised and omnipresent brand logo, the bitten apple was designed for Apple Computer by Rob Janoff nearly half a century ago, yet remains fresh and largely unchanged – except its colour. This story is told through the first hand recollection of Rob Janoff and with help from Joel Bohm, the CEO of the global marketing and design agency that Rob founded.
Rob Janoff Studio, which has offices in Wilmington, Delaware, USA and Brisbane, Australia, has kindly provided the comic-strip images for this story and given permission for use of a video interview. The story also features Cezanne’s Apples courtesy of THE MET in New York, and the original apple logo designed by Rob Janoff that was launched on 15th April 1977.
